Chau Gong

Chau gong is a traditional Chinese gong. In China, it is known as the gong that clears the way. When dignitaries in ancient times went out on the streets, they would use gongs to clear the way to warn people to avoid it. Also sometimes known in the West as the Bullseye Gong, Chao Gong, or Chow Gong, the Chau Gong has a black outer rim and a black center that has been lathed in the middle to reveal shiny bronze. Zhougongs range in size from 6 inches to 40 inches.

Chinese Chau Gongs have a very powerful sound, especially the larger Chau Gongs. A good chau gong has a basic tone and a nice mix of crashing or flushing sounds, copying gongs are widely used in sound therapy, yoga, meditation, symphony band...
